In mid-February 2026, the first of a book series, The Adventures of Chomp the Chimp, will be published. Chomp the Chimp™ is a children’s picture book series about a young chimp coming to know his world through patience, curiosity, and everyday encounters. The stories are intentionally paced to leave space for noticing and connection, inviting children and adults to linger rather than rush.

The Adventures of Chomp the Chimp grew out of my work in psychology and education, which has led me to think more carefully about how children encounter stories, images, and language. Much of that thinking has focused on attention—how it develops, how it is supported, and how easily it can be overwhelmed in environments that move too quickly or demand too much at once. The books were created to offer young readers stories that unfold gently, leaving room for noticing, curiosity, and shared attention between children and the adults who read with them.

While the stories themselves are written for children, the thinking behind them has been shaped by years of work in psychology, education, and clinical settings. Research on executive function, self-regulation, and early learning consistently points to the importance of calm, relational experiences—especially during the preschool and early elementary years. Storytelling, when approached with care, can be one of those experiences.

The Adventures of Chomp the Chimp will be available at local libraries. It will also be available for purchase from IngramSparks and Amazon. Once the book is available, a link to the site(s) will be placed here. For more information about the Chomp series, including plot lines and their intended audience, please visit chompthechimp.com.
